Review for: Take Off Your Pants and Jacket

Take Off Your Pants and Jacket, although some lyrics would suggest otherwise, is disappointingly not a return to Blink's rawer sound of earlier days, but more of a pop-bridgeover. Like 'Enema', this album is filled with catchy, sing-a-long type tunes with a slight punk twang. As expected, Blink's high-school potty humor and a tendency to poke fun at..well..everything, is a re-occuring theme throughout the record ("Grandpa's An Asshole"). One cool feature is the different bonus tracks on each of the different 4 versions of "Jacket" released. There honestly is not a bad song on this album, although the lovey-dovey lyrics of "First Date" are a LOT too sappy for a band some would say don't belong anywhere in the punk-rock category. Loyal Blink followers will enjoy the second half of "Anthem, Part 1" off of the Enema album, as well as a declaration of outsider teenage angst in "Give Me One Good Reason". In classic Blink style, this is another one of those discs you can stick in your CD player and listen to all the way through without getting the urge to change the track every few minutes. An all-around good listen.

The guys of Blink
Review for : Blink's live album - The Mark, Tom & Travis Show!

A crack-up sampling of live Blink tunes from their last three records, in addition to a front row pass to Mark & Tom's offensive, pre-adolescent, and absolutely hilarious stage antics. The songs are a great pick-me-up and the attempts at jokes in between tracks will have you in hysterics (that is, if you appreciate high school style potty humor). The album is made up of about 1/2 and 1/2 of tracks off of Enema of the State ("What's My Age Again?", "Aliens Exist", etc.) and Dude Ranch "Dammit", others) with a few songs off of Cheshire Cat (a hit with old school fans, "Carousel", as well as their first single ever, "M & M's"), plus a newly recorded single, "Man Overboard". All in all, this is a cool addition to a Blink fan's collection.

Review for: Enema of the State
A sligh trip from their last album, Dude Ranch, Enema of the State is Blink's major label debut, and is filled with fun, up-beat tracks. This album is much more refined and polished than their previous two studio releases, although that might not be considered a good thing, depending on what side of the tracks you're on. It definitely has mainstream appeal, being an enjoyable record all the way through. The rough edges that gave Blink character have sadly disappeared, however, they are replaced with some cool songs that are definitely still Blink, but with a smoother sound, obviously recorded with major label money! Fans of the last two albums will enjoy songs like "Mutt" and "Anthem, Part 1", which are the closest to Blink's original sound on this album. These are all fun & easy songs to learn to play yourself - check out the tab book put out by MCA with the record.
